I should have posted this on Monday but I just didn't take the time. Oh well better late than never. It was my birthday on Monday (the 23rd) so we decided to get away for the weekend. To start the weekend off Jeff surprised me at work with a bouquet of flowers. They're gorgeous. Thank you my sweet husband! When I got off work we packed up our things and took off to the the family cabin in Allens Park, CO. On Saturday we spent the day in Estes Park (about 30 min from the cabin). We started off at Lake Estes and rented ourselves a kayak. I'd never kayaked before, and it showed. Jeff got a little frustrated with me but then decided to calm down and teach me how to properly row. So after an hour of getting wet with only a little bit of sun coming out to dry us off, we headed back to the marina. We hung out by the lake and had lunch. After lunch we rented a couple of scooters. We had a blast going through the back parts of Estes that we never get to see. It was a beautiful ride. We ended our ride going through main street. It was crowed with plenty of tourists. On our way back to the rental shop we were passed up by three trike motorcycles. They all turned and waved, laughed, hooted and hollered. It was hilarious. Before we headed back to the cabin we made the traditional stop at Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. I had the best caramel apple, and Jeff got chocolate covered toffee....ummm yum. We thoroughly wore ourselves out, so we ended up taking a nice long nap. On Sunday we just enjoyed the peace and quiet that the cabin has to offer. We mostly read and napped. On Monday we forced ourselves to go back to our normal lives. Since it was my birthday we celebrated with a delicious lunch at The Cheesecake Factory. Jeff had an appointment later that afternoon to get the pins in his toes taken out. I'm sorry I didn't have my camera with me this time. But they pretty much look the same as the do in the other pictures. He had the stitches and the pins removed, and he brought normal shoes with him in the hopes of wearing them out of there. He was very disappointed when that didn't happen. But not to worry he was able to put some flip flops on a few days later. He still can't wear normal shoes but he isn't giving up hope that it will happen soon. So that wraps up our enjoyable weekend, hope you enjoy the pictures.

Here are the beautiful flowers that Jeff surprised me with at work. He told them exactly how he wanted it, he did his homework online. Those are long stem roses, so pretty...aaahhh.
Jeff totally pumped up and ready to go. He even wore is special biker shoes.
Here we are just before taking off on our scooter ride around Estes Park. The owner had us try them out around the parking lot first. I tried it first, then Jeff. She asked me if we have ridden one before. I told her I had never driven (there's nothing to it) and that Jeff used to own a bullet bike. She said "I would have guessed that you would have been the one with experience." I guess I'm just a natural. :)
Just trying to look more beautiful than the scenery.....Not possible, it was gorgeous up there!
Jeff didn't want to get off the scooter for his picture. I'm running into trying to make a weird gesture but I was a little slow.
Jeff REALLY enjoyed his scooter ride.
Jeff trying to tickle the DEAD elk on the wall. He doesn't have a name, any suggestions?
This is the Larsen Family Cabin. It's been in the family for a long time.
The St. Vrain River, as you can see it runs directly behind the cabin....very peaceful to listen to.

GROSS!!!!
Well Jeff went in for is first check up appointment, and let me tell you I wasn't expecting them to look this gross! I knew that it would be bruised and their were pins in them, but I forgot about the stitches. He has about 20 in each toe. The pin has green topper on it, kind of looks like one of those sewing push pins. I had no idea how long the pin was until I saw the picture of the x-ray. They're both about 4 inches long. The doctor was quite impressed with his work he said to Jeff "If you don't mind me patting my self on the back, they look pretty dang good." It's good to know that the Doc has confidence in himself. Anyway I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.

Bye Bye Raptor Toes
Jeff went in for surgery on both his pinkie toes today. We showed up at the surgery center 30 minutes early, so they were able to begin the surgery early. We put them ahead of schedule for the rest of the day. That's a good thing in the medical field, in fact when is that not a good thing. The surgery lasted 2 hours, and recovery for about 30 min. Of course he will be at home recovering for at least 3 weeks. The surgeon said that everything went great, and expects a full recovery. He cut the tendons, took out some bone, and put pins in each of his toes. He has to keep his feet elevated and keep ice on them to prevent swelling. We can't forget the drugs of course. He's all doped up on Percocet, and is feeling pretty pain free right now. He's also saying "I love you" a lot, I guess this makes him a little more affectionate than normal. Not that he doesn't say it enough, he's just saying A LOT today. I told him it's always nice to hear, so bring on the affection! He's probably just sucking up because he knows that I have to wait on him, and if he's not nice he's not getting dinner! Now he just needs to rest and follow the doctor's orders. He'll probably get pretty restless with all this sitting around that he'll be doing so feel free to give him a call, he'd be happy to hear from you. We'll keep you posted on the rest of the recovery, for now here are some pictures from today.....
He had surgery on both feet.
The right was worse than the
left.
This was before the drugs!
"Tink, tink"
I couldn't resist taking
this picture. He just looked
so funny trying to climb the
stairs. I love you gimmpy!
Sexy legs!
He needs to learn how
to properly apply that self
tanner huh ladies. J/K it's
really leftover iodine.
This is an inversion table.
It's another way to get
his feet really elevated.
You kind of feel like a bat
when you're on this thing.
What Jeff will be doing
