The Season's Over

Volleyball season has come to an end. The Eagles limped their way into the district tournament that was held on Saturday October 25th. They came out in their first game of the tournament wide awake and ready to play. They played the hosting team Prairie View. The held their lead the whole game and showed everyone what they are really made of...finally. We've been waiting to see them play up to their own level all year, why they wait until the end of the season to show it I'll never know. They lost the next two games, won the fourth, and lost the fifth. Right after that match they played Evergreen H.S. and beat them in 4. They made it to the crossover and played the number one team from the other pool, Roosevelt H.S. They lost to them in 3 games. Kind of a sad way to end the season, but we were glad they made it to districts. We have high hopes for next year to make it to the state tournament. It's been an eventful 3 months, but I'm glad to have my evenings back with my husband. Don't get me wrong we love volleyball season, and are very much looking forward to next year, but I'm glad it only last for 3 months. One last GO EAGLES!!!

Race for the Cure

My mom is in town this weekend, and one of the things we made plans to do was the Denver Race for the Cure. We decided to race it this year because it we General Conference weekend, and the race was early enough that we could get back in time to watch the first Sunday session. It was a great turn out. Denver was trying to get their title back for "biggest race in America" by having more than 67,000 people there. I think they succeeded. We were seeing jersey numbers in the 68,000's. I was amazed at how many people there were. This was my first year doing it, and I would love to do it again in the future. If it doesn't land on Conf. weekend again then I'll defiantly sleep for the cure still. I felt especially thankful to be able to do it this year. I work in the Medical Imaging department at my hospital, and I personally send out letters to women everyday telling them their results to their mammograms. I don't send out many abnormal result letters, but when I do my heart goes out to them. I hope by walking today I did some good for the cure.

Volleyball Update

The Eagles played against the Greeley Central Wild Cats on Saturday. Needless to say Jeff's J.V. team had the worst energy they've had all year. It looked like they were not awake out there. It's like they didn't want to be there, and played like they didn't show up. They lost in two. Varsity however had an up and down match. They won their game in 5. Next week they will play Skyline and Northridge High Schools.

My first diaper cake

I made my first diaper cake for my good friend Laura. It turned out better than I was expecting. It was pretty easy to make, but it cost a little more than I thought it would. I had fun making it, the octopus on top was my color inspiration (green and blue). I found that camo ribbon at Hobby Lobby, it matched perfectly. I thought I would go more with a sports theme, but it ended up looking more like an underwater theme. With the Octopus on top, the camo looking like water, and the blue and green accent floral pieces looking like bubbles. It was a big hit! Oh, and she had her baby on Sept.30th at 10:00pm, a little boy named Michael Scott Jaramillo.
